Shipped systems, and the log of this one

Case studies of what runs, and the build log of this site itself — the recursion made visible.

case studies

  • 366,000

    valuations published behind validation gates

bestyeghomes.com — a site that is an engine

Real search demand + 400K+ proprietary market records + an agentic-first stack = a site that largely writes itself, expertly, with a human in for judgment. The framework generalizes to nearly any business.

  • 10× / ⅒

the scope, at a tenth of the cash — self-reported

    The 2024 → 2026 self-benchmark

The same person, the same six months, two years apart — what changed when hard-won experience met frontier tools. Self-reported, and framed exactly that way.

Every number in these carries a receipt, a stated methodology, or an explicit not-independently-verifiable statement — the colophon explains that standard.

The city moves to the GPU; the site gets its second pass

Lab 01 is rebuilt as a point cloud: every one of the 412,955 records is a vertex, and a whole century of construction is a single number the shader reads — germination, settling, and the value relief all happen on the graphics card, so the birth runs at full frame rate and the data ships as a 3.3 MB binary instead of 6.9 MB of JSON. The city is now the front page itself, behind the site's thesis, with the copy on a paper window that fades into the dots. The rest of the site was re-cut around it: the nav is the loop, the reading column gained a real margin so receipts sit beside the claims they carry, each route makes one strong choice — a ledger with a loop-stage track, essay openers with drop caps, the ladder drawn as an ascending structure, one huge pull-stat per case study, the three honesty sections as a triptych. The direction — go further, go rendered, the whole site — was the human half's; the tokens it is built from are unchanged. Every page still clears axe at phone viewport and the Lighthouse floor, the GPU page included.

Lab 01 ships: the city, grown from its own records

The site's first lab experiment is live and on the front page: 412,955 real properties from Edmonton's public assessment roll draw the city into existence in build-year order — a century in about a minute, the river valley appearing as an absence, new construction germinating green before settling into ink. Time follows the data: empty decades sweep past, the booms breathe. No map tiles, no WebGL; canvas, records, and the same receipts grammar as every number on this site. Built in two days of open iteration between the human half's direction — the growth metaphor, the cinematic open, the pacing — and the agent half's engineering.

    We caught our own number

While measuring the full constellation behind one of our case studies, the pipeline surfaced a double-count: two projects' configurations pointed at the same datastore, so 'records under active management' was publishing roughly twice the true figure. The counter now deduplicates stores by project before summing; the metric dropped from 'over 1,000,000' to 'over 500,000' in the same build that ships this entry. This is what the receipts discipline is for — the system that publishes the number is the system that catches it, and the correction is part of the public record.

    First pages through the gates

Scaffold up with the quality gates in place before the first component — the token gate proved itself by failing the build on the framework's default styling until our own tokens landed, and the contrast gate caught one of our own grays. Tokens passed their specimen review (Newsreader for the human voice, IBM Plex Mono for the machine's, rubric red as the one system color). The colophon set the register; the proof strip started reading real numbers from the one-way snapshot; Distill shipped with the Ladder; the loop diagram began showing real pulses. Every page live today passed axe at phone viewport on the way in.

The site begins as a loop iteration

Four deep-research runs — living-portfolio mechanics, frontier design signal, award-tier exemplars, and AI-era component patterns — were condensed into a design brief, and the brief into a scope pin with hard sign-off gates. The decision that governs everything else: this site is itself an exhibit, maintained by the system it describes, and every number it publishes must carry its measurement basis. This log is the recursion made visible; today it is written by hand, and one day the deploy pipeline will write it.
